Ran, Kogoro and I went to Lake Biwa to cheer on the Beika University team for the Birdman Rally!

After meeting up with Heiji and Kazuha, someone showed up looking for the team’s plane designer, so we decided to help. That’s when Heiji and I figured out that he had been kidnapped!

Things are heating up in this two parter case. Rare to see Heiji in a anime original episode an it was fun getting to know more about the Birdman Rally. Inventing man-powered planes to soar through the skies. But like Icarus, are they flying too close to the sun?

With the transmitter strapped to the plane and Heiji being out of commission for right now, they are definitely going to break the record. Too bad that no one noticed the guy but it does seem to be a long time since it happened. And yet, I find a few things that just don’t sit right with me.

First, no one seemed to have given the plane a thorough inspection prior to taking off. Surely the transmitter could’ve been found. Second, surely the members know who is working on the plane so shouldn’t some random guy be put in question. Then again, they could have volunteers that haven’t been introduced but that just seems unlikely. Lastly, Conan giving the sister the badge who gave it to Ishizumi as a good luck charm. Instead of running and screaming not to let the plane go off, he could’ve used the badge to talk to Ishizumi directly.

The motive is simple and yet I can’t find myself sympathizing with the guy. He could have taken this as a lesson to not do crime or something. But no. He doubles down and gets the people that got his brother arrested mixed up in his revenge scheme. The fact that he used to show off that he was affiliated with this robbery gang and was able to pull this off by himself baffles me.

On another note, the end card looks cool.
