This Week’s Translation

ボク、蘭姉ちゃん、小五郎のおじさんで山梨までドライブしてたんだ。
でも森の中を通ってたら突然、犬が飛び出してきて車の前で止まったんだ!
急ブレーキで車が止まると、その犬はボク達を見て「わん」って鳴いて、また森に入って行っちゃった。
そしたら飼い主の女の人が現れて、犬のあとを追って行ったと思ったら悲鳴が!
ボク達も森に入ると、そこには首を吊った遺体が…!
あの犬は遺体があるのを感じてた…!?

We were driving to Yamanashi when a dog suddenly jumped out in front of the car!
When Kogoro hit the brakes, the dog barked and went back into the forest.
Then the dog’s owner showed up and chased after the dog and there was a sudden scream!

When we got there, we saw a body hanging from a tree! The dog must’ve picked up that the body was there!

A simple case where they made it obvious who the killer was from the start. The matching stains and the strange behavior he had when he saw Conan snooping around at the dock. Kaoru was bound to get caught.

Motive: blackmail. Blackmailed him for impersonating her husband who was an author. All to help her son out of money trouble. It didn’t seem as if Kaoru had much to lose here so he could have came clean that he was just a fan. Or better yet, correct the misunderstanding from the jump.

The anagram was nice bit of wordplay to it.

I’m more curious what her son needed the money for. And how the heck did she get him on the ground with a pump on his head.

On another note, the doggo was helpful from start to finish. The culprit was clear due to the stain. Hindsight might be 20/20 for him, but it would have made sense to change clothes. Especially after a day has passed.
