This Week in Detective Conan

But first, I’d like to talk about the second trailer for the movie One-eyed Flashback coming out next month.

We might be getting some background story on how Investigator Yamato got his eye taken out this time. Could have been its own case in a canon episode but it is great that they are giving more details on what happened.

Conan will have his time to shine but Kogoro and the Nagano Trio are going to play a key role in this movie.

This Week’s Translation

While sightseeing with Ran, I was eavesdropping on the details of the case that Kogoro came to Kanazawa for. And that’s when I got kidnapped! Their true motive was to get the band back together. I decided to help them, but the brakes on the car were tampered with?!

Today’s Episode

Last week left off with one heck of a cliffhanger. Luckily Agasa’s suspender gadget came in handy. Reminded me of an elevator when they were getting pulled back up.

Clearly the guitarist was a red herring. Wasn’t sure who the culprit was going to be this time as there wasn’t much info to go off of in the last episode. At least any of the guys from the band could have posed as the guitarist back then. The handedness and how someone carries a guitar bag was interesting. Speaking of hands, they caught Domon… gold handed😎.

Considering these episodes are in the digital age, it wasn’t a good idea for Domon to go ransacking the place for the video anyway. Sure, this would have worked if we were in the 90s. Also, I’m surprised to see Kogoro has a smartphone before Ran.

Love how Spider-Man-esque Conan was with the suspenders in this episode. Didn’t know it could be launched that far. Since he didn’t have his turbo engine skateboard, this was the best alternative.

On another note, I think this might be the first time someone has ever pushed Sleeping Kogoro. I do recall The Antique Collector Murder Case where a guy almost split his wig open with a sword.

Looks like the last part of the episode was used to lead into the movie. Very subtle compared to previous years. I don’t think we’ll get a “this is what happened before the events in the movie” episode this year.

Next Episode is…???

The next few weeks is going to be remasters of a case in Nagano. They’ll be covering the Furinkanzan Case to promote the movie coming next month. So, no new Detective Conan episodes for a while.
